The kindness of your nature at JFK airport

A friend snapped this picture of my book at JFK airport yesterday. It is a slightly surreal feeling to realise that the book has a life of its own over in the US, while I am sitting here on this particularly grey day in Auckland. It is easy to think that nothing happens when you hear and see nothing. So, this image was a most welcome sign that my book is doing well. Without me. The odd review has been coming through, all good. So, instead of browsing for more information I should let it go. And return to my task.

Swedish Book Review

I thought the review of my own novel, ‘The Kindness of Your Nature’/'The Memory of Love’, was interesting and thoughtful, and I continued to read several others. I recommend it for anybody with an interest in Swedish literature.

My third novel, The kindness of your nature/Det goda inom dig will be released in Germany 10 September (my birthday – auspicious, I hope) and I look forward to going to the Frankfurt Book Fair in October as one of the New Zealand authors invited to participate in the celebration of New Zealand as the guest of honour country.

Just received the cover design for the Swedish pocket edition. Another variation on a theme – very nice!

The Finnish cover for The Kindness of Your Nature – Kaikki Hyvä Sinussa – has just arrived. I am very, very pleased with how it looks.
As an excerp for the back of the cover, the following passage has been chosen:
“Here, I realised that the darkness was not absolute. From up there on the deck the sea had been one with the surrounding darkness. But now I saw a multitude of shifting grey hues, as manifold as the most colourful landscape.”

Publication is scheduled for March 2012.
