When Sonata for Miriam was published in Sweden, Swedish composer Alexander Ekroth-Baginski was commissioned to write a short excerpt to be used for the audio edition of the book. This was so wonderfully perceptive and beautiful that he was commissioned to complete what is the adagio from the Sonata for Miriam that the main character in the novel writes for his daughter Miriam. It is my hope that Alexander will have the opportunity to complete the entire sonata.

The adagio was later recorded in Auckland, New Zealand, with Lara Hall playing the violin and Mikhail Tablis piano.

In connection with the release of Sonata for Miriam (Sonat till Miriam) in Sweden, Swedish composer Alexander Ekroth-Baginski was commissioned to compose the adagio from the sonata that the main character composes in the novel. The result is a profoundly moving, gentle piece of music, perfectly suited to the novel. The adagio has since been recorded and will be made available to the general public in due course.

I am listening to a CD, presenting the music of two violinists who were tragically silenced in their youth, Ginette Neveu and Josef Hassid (Testament SBT 1010). It is with a feeling similar to that which you get when you have just discovered a new author, only to be told that he only wrote a couple of books and is now dead. A kind of sad desperation.
