Die Fremde am Meer

My third novel, The kindness of your nature/Det goda inom dig will be released in Germany 10 September (my birthday – auspicious, I hope) and I look forward to going to the Frankfurt Book Fair in October as one of the New Zealand authors invited to participate in the celebration of New Zealand as the guest of honour country.

Lillehammer

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Nowhere else in the world have my books been as appreciated as in Norway. I don’t know why this is so, but I am immensely grateful and I am looking forward to my next visit to this beautiful country. I will be reading and discussing my second book, ‘Taushetens konsekvenser’ (aka ‘Sonata for Miriam’) at the Sigrid Undset Days in Lillehammer Sunday 30 May. 2009 US Tour

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

It seemed like such a long time. Yet now it’s only a month till Sonata for Miriam will be published in the US. And suddenly I am very anxious. Somehow it feels very different from the first novel and the first tour. I suppose that when you are completely ignorant you don’t worry. With experience come expectations – your own and those of others. Self consiousness.

Now that the itinerary is before me the tour has taken on a sense of reality. It’s time to get my head around what to do, what to say. And to pray for a kind reception of the book…

Here is the schedule of appearances. Minor changes may still happen.

A long and winding tour

The cold baths in Varberg

We left Stockholm on a sunny Sunday morning – except for two sunsets, all the sun we have seen on this trip south. It feels a bit like a wet whirlwind. Two nights with friends in idyllic Br√∂sarps Backar, one night in Malm√∂, one in Copenhagen, one in Varberg. However lovely, no place is at its best in driving rain… Now we have landed in √Öm√•l, famous for the film “Fucking √Öm√•l” which had to be retitled for other parts of the world. A pretty little town on the lake V√§nern. But it is raining… I am here to read during the book festival Bokdagarna i Dalsland. (more…)
